A heartfelt message from the Ford family
Dear friends and family,
Father’s Day turned out to be different this year. The Ford clan all gathered in the atrium of Gulf Coast Hospital here in Fort Myers on Sunday afternoon to spend an hour with dad. He was thrilled but exhausted.
Over the past two months, Dad has been battling serious kidney issues caused by a blockage. Despite our best efforts to manage it through outpatient care, his condition worsened and progressed to stage 5 kidney failure. On his second stay in the hospital in the past two months he was in for more than two weeks.
The doctors have told us that the blockage can’t be addressed until his kidneys are more stable. There have been a few scary setbacks, but thankfully, Dad is slowly improving day by day. He was discharged from the hospital on June 20 and we are now caring for him at home. So thankful for the four brothers, Jonathan, Seth, Matthew and Mark, who are taking turns staying with Mom and Dad at night because he is weak and unsteady on his feet. Luke and Amber live in Macon, but they call. A lot. 🙂
We’re incredibly grateful to the doctors and all of the healthcare team at Gulf Coast Hospital here in Fort Myers, who have cared for Dad with such compassion and skill.
Please continue to pray for Dad’s healing. He is very weak and tires easily. Also, please keep Mom in your prayers. She has hardly left his side. We’re all taking turns helping, but Dad is only satisfied when she’s with him, and she doesn’t want to leave either. Still, she needs rest to stay strong.
Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and support. Your kindness means more than we can say. We will share more updates as we have them.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Ford Family
